Running is such a fantastic sport because just anybody can have a go at it, just about anywhere they like!
If you have just decided to start running, whether because you want to run the next Dublin marathon or just want to improve your health, these pages contain everything you need to know to get you started.
Walk before you can run...
If you have never run before or your initial aim is just to get started, begin by simply getting outside and walking a 20 - 30 minute route.
The next time you do this route, try and do it a little faster.
Try walking for a while, then jogging lightly for as long as you feel comfortable. Each time you do the route, try and increase the length of time spent running, and decrease the recovery between runs.
Before you know it, you will be jogging the whole route, and what was originally taking you 30 minutes will be over in 15.
